Since 1967 members of the Sunlight Ski Patrol have been providing emergency services for the skiing public. The Sunlight Volunteer Ski patrol Is 501 c3 organization.
Sunlight Ski Patrol is staffed by professional patrollers during the weekdays and volunteer patrollers during the weekends. Both professionals and volunteers receive the same high standard of training and work in the same capacities. In addition to assisting skiers in need of medical attention, the patrol is available to assist all visitors to the mountain in non-medical situations such as providing directions to certain ski runs or advice on which runs are skiing the best at certain times of day. They also monitor the conditions and general safety of all runs on the mountain. Most special activities at sunlight, such as races, are held on weekends and therefore receive help from the weekend volunteer patrol. Volunteer patrollers work a minimum of 13 days on the mountain per season.
Serving on Sunlight Ski Patrol requires completion of two training courses: The Outdoor Emergency Care course is usually held from late summer through the fall and includes classroom and on-mountain trainings focused on providing medical care to injured, sick, or distressed skiers. The Outdoor Emergency Transportation course is held on-mountain during the ski season and includes training in transporting injured skiers safely off the mountain. Patrollers also participate in shorter trainings and refreshers throughout the year. If you are interested in joining the Sunlight Ski Patrol, please contact us using the link below.
